ANU PhD Research Project: Performance Cultures in Women's Football

Picture 1.png

In the wake of the 2023 World Cup, women’s football in Australia is receiving more attention and resourcing than ever before. From grassroots to pro-level, our sport is growing quickly.

The recent growth and attention presents a window of opportunity to intentionally shape a safe and positive culture that allows athletes to excel.

This research supports and aligns with movements within the field of women’s sport to document athletes’ experiences and work towards healthier and safer sporting environments for women. Findings from this project will increase knowledge of the governance and cultures of women’s football in Australia.

The ethical aspects of this research have been approved by the ANU Human Research Ethics Committee (Protocol 2022/394).
